Acid to Alkaline pH: What is it?
Throughout the decades of this past century scientists, doctors, and biologists have been studying various types of cancer to find a solution to this elevating epidemic. There has been produced several types of medication and therapies for battling this ever increasing foe. However, if we go back in history we will find a highly respected doctor who discovered why people get cancer. He is the 1931 Nobel Peace Prize winner for Physiology: Dr. Otto Heinrich Warburg.
Dr. Warburg discovered in 1923 that cancer thrives in oxygen-deprived acidic tissue. He documented that, “Cancers are characterized by two basic conditions: Acidosis and hypoxia (lack of oxygen).” In his co-written article, The Metabolism of Tumors In the Body, he defines that cancer can be characterized by two different but interrelated things which are acidosis and hypoxia. Hypoxia means that the tissue has been lacking oxygen. Acidosis means that the pH of the tissue is below a seven on the pH scale. He also found the where acidosis happens is where hypoxia happens and that they are on the same side of the coin.
Dr Warburg wrote, “Cancerous tissues are acidic, whereas healthy tissues are alkaline. Water splits into H+ and OH- ions, if there is an excess of H+, it is acidic; if there is an excess of OH- ions, then it will be alkaline.” He also stated that, “All normal cells have an absolute requirement for oxygen, but cancer cells can live without oxygen—a rule without exception.”
It was also discovered with his findings that healthy cells do not take long to become cancerous. He stated: “Deprive a cell 35% of its oxygen for 48 hours and it may become cancerous.” Cancer cells, he also discovered, are anaerobic (they do not breath oxygen) and cannot survive in the presence of an oxygen-enriched environment. This indicates how fragile the cells actually are and what they need on a constant basis to remain healthy. They need to be saturated with oxygen and alkalinity.
